Today is April 16th, World Noise Day. With the rapid development of cities, noise pollution has indeed become a problem that cannot be ignored. Since the establishment of World Noise Day in 2003, more than twenty years have passed, and the sounds in cities have become increasingly noisy. According to data from the World Health Organization, noise pollution has become the second-largest environmental factor threatening human health after air pollution. Long-term exposure to noise levels exceeding 65 decibels will significantly increase the risks of cardiovascular diseases, sleep disorders, and cognitive impairment.

Smart Streetlights: The Optimal Carrier for Urban Noise Management
Smart streetlights, due to their high coverage density, appropriate positioning height, continuous power supply, and network interconnection, are becoming the core nodes of the urban environmental perception network and provide an ideal carrier for noise monitoring. By mounting noise sensors and other related modules (as shown in the figure below) on the streetlights, urban managers can build an unprecedented “sound map”.
